Peter Island Resort — the largest private island resort in the British Virgin Islands — is reopening on December 1, 2024. The resort closed after being devastated by Hurricane Irma in 2017 and has since undergone extensive renovations.
The updated resort will feature beachfront rooms and suites, two redesigned villas, two restaurants, and a 10,000 square foot seaside spa. And in case you were interested in bringing your yacht, the resort will also feature a Yacht Club that is large enough to accommodate multiple superyachts.
A Beachfront Room is currently priced at $1,000 per night (excluding taxes and fees) during low season and $1,700 per night (excluding taxes and fees) during high season. While certainly a splurge, this is a wonderful resort to consider for a special occasion — like a milestone birthday, anniversary, or honeymoon, and is on my shortlist of destinations to visit in 2025.
Did you stay at Peter Island Resort before it closed? I would love to hear about your experiences in the comments!

Peter Island was a dream place to visit- While I didn’t stay there, the sailboat I was on stopped for a day and night in the natural harbor and we were able to explore the island and beaches and it was just gorgeous. I had it on my list of places to go stay soon after that sailing trip, but then the hurricane happened, and it has taken forever to re-open so I dropped it off the list- but I am so pleased to see it is finally happening! I will put it back on my list.
That’s so great to hear — I hope you get to visit (and maybe I’ll see you there!).
