Delta announced that it’s ending its partnership with Lyft and that the airline will instead partner with Uber beginning spring 2025. Below is the amount of SkyMiles you’ll be able to earn by linking your Delta and Uber accounts:

  • 1 mile per $1 spent on UberX
  • 1 mile per $1 spent on Uber Eats for orders over $40 from restaurants and grocery stores
  • 2 miles per $1 spent on “premium rides” (Uber Comfort and Uber Black)
  • 3 miles per $1 spent on Uber Reserve trips

Personally, I’m not surprised that Delta is ditching Lyft in favor of Uber, since Delta has a very strong partnership with Amex and Amex also partners with Uber (whereas Lyft is Chase partner). For the same reason, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hilton drops its Lyft partnership in favor of Uber — although that becomes a bit more complicated, since Uber partners with Marriott already.

Overall, I think this follows a trend of Amex partners partnering together and Chase partners doing the same (like Lyft and DoorDash announcing a new partnership at the end of 2024). My only complaint with the new Delta/Uber partnership is that I wish all Uber Eats orders, regardless of spend, qualified for 1 mile per $1 spent.

Bottom line

Delta will be ending its partnership with Lyft in the spring and will instead be partnering with Uber, giving SkyMiles members the opportunity to earn SkyMiles for their spend with Uber.
