Apple announced yesterday that in the coming months, the company will partner with 15 airlines (including United and Delta) to allow AirTag users to share the location of their luggage with those airlines. This is a huge win for travelers who use AirTags, as passengers have reported difficulty in sharing their lost luggage’s location with airlines in the past.
Even if you don’t check luggage, it’s still a good idea to put AirTags in your carry-on bags for safe measure (for example, you can track your bag if you accidentally walk off the plane without your bag or if someone steals your belongings).
It looks like the feature will be pretty straight-forward to use, even if you’re not particularly tech savvy — you simply will need to go into Apple’s “Find My” application, where users will be able to generate and share a link to an AirTag’s location.
