I was logging into my DoorDash tonight to order dinner when it asked me to link my DoorDash and Lyft accounts to get 50% off my order tonight (up to $10).
I decided to take DoorDash and Lyft up on the offer, and was surprised to see that a number of other benefits come with linking these accounts, including:
- 50% off my next 4 scheduled airport rides (up to $25 off, through December 31st)
- 5% off on-demand rides and 10% off scheduled airport rides (up to 4 times per month)
- Free priority pickup upgrades (up to 2 times per month)
- $0 food deliveries for “eligible” DoorDash orders (not sure what this means)
I currently have DashPass through my Chase Sapphire Preferred card and I’m also a Lyft Pink member, so the $0 for food deliveries and free priority pickup upgrade options are less valuable to me, but this still a great deal.
I was able to easily link my accounts by simply logging on the DoorDash app and would recommend doing the same. If it’s not showing up, you may want to check your Lyft account to link your two accounts. And if that doesn’t work, here are instructions from the official DoorDash press release:
“DashPass members and Lyft riders can link their accounts here to unlock exclusive savings. DoorDash members can sign up for DashPass here to start enjoying Lyft savings and other members-only benefits today.”
It’s not surprising that DoorDash and Lyft have reciprocal benefits, given that they are both Chase partners (with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card currently offering 5x points on Lyft rides and DashPass benefits), but I am surprised by how generous the offer is for linking your accounts. I guess both DoorDash and Lyft really want data from each other — and since Uber already knows some of my food preferences thanks to UberEats, I’m with Lyft knowing the same.
Come to think of it, this is likely Lyft’s way of getting into the food space without going as far as Uber did with UberEats.
