A man, clearly after my own heart, has sued Canadian airline Sunwing after being served sparkling wine for an advertised complimentary on-board champagne toast.

As reported by the BBC, Daniel Macduff was traveling from Canada to Cuba when the incident took place.

“It’s not about the pettiness of champagne versus sparkling wine,” Macduff said. “It’s the consumer message behind it.”

Sunwing responded by claiming the terms “champagne vacations” and “champagne service” were used “to denote a level of service in reference to the entire hospitality package” and not to describe the in-flight beverages. Nevertheless, according to Macduff’s lawyer, roughly 1,600 other plaintiffs have come forward to join the lawsuit.

As a travel blogging attorney who can sometimes be is often petty about poor customer service, this lawsuit gives me life.
